We spent Christmas Eve playing, baking truck cakes and cupcakes for Jesus's birthday party, and cooking for our dinner with Jeremy's parents. Thomas even got to lick the batter from the bowl for the first time!
We went to church Christmas Eve, which was great! Both kids did very well, and I have to admit that I shed some tears over the sweet sound of my precious boy singing Away in a Manger and Silent Night. He was so proud to be able to sing along to the songs!
Then we went home so Thomas could put out the reindeer food from Mrs. Liz and Abi (oats and glitter)....
After that we attempted to get them to sit on the front step for a picture in their outfits....they were a little wound up from visiting Luke and Faith, and walking down to Ms. Walker's to see all her decorations.
Christmas morning, we looked at all the Santa gifts and checked to make sure he ate his truck cake and drank his chocolate milk. Then, we opened gifts from each other. Here is a quick rundown of our favorite gifts:
Thomas gave Lily milk ("because it is her favorite and she would say 'Milk! Milk!'") and twin babies (since named Baby Boy Bob and Baby Girl Natalie; then renamed Wall-E and Eve)
Thomas gave Jeremy the Goonies DVD and a twelve pack of Coke.
Thomas got a Ford dealership (made by Matchbox), Cars bicycle, books, and some other things from Santa. Lily gave him a green GMC Canyon he has had his eye on at Sam's.
Lily got a baby stroller, baby, books, and doctor's kit from Santa. She loves to wear the stethoscope around her neck and listen to your heart - she makes a great heartbeat sound!
After a yummy breakfast, we decorated the cakes for Jesus so that we could start his party. We sang Happy Birthday, then the kids took turns blowing out the candle for Jesus since he wasn't here.
Thomas rode to Augusta with Steve and Debbie while we finished some last minute clean-up and packing. Lily had a blast playing with all the gifts. We were in the kitchen when I looked up and saw her writing on her Magna Doodle under the tree. She looks so grown up these days!
It was truly an amazing season that we shared this year, and I am so grateful for the amount of time we had at home. There are so many memories I will cherish of these sweet children, and my amazing husband that I am on this journey with.
