Kids without toys = Amazing Creativity

I had to go to Hartsville to pick something up Sunday, and Paola was up for a ride so we took the kids on a little road trip while the husbands golfed. What a perfect weather day for both events! We made my quick stop, then headed to Coker to find a field to fly kites. The wind wasn't great, so we just had a snack picnic and played. The kids loved it! We played games, ran, played airplane, picked flowers, and all kinds of fun stuff.

If it looks like Thomas and Isabel are attending a lecture given by Professor Jackson, they are!
Us: What are you guys talking about?
Kids: God.
Us: What did you learn about at church today, Jackson?
J: God loves you. We are all his children.
T: Is that all you learned?
Paola: That is what I was going to ask!

It was so cute to see the kids just sitting on those benches like they were actually in college. They are so grown up sometimes!

The kids were playing in the shade when I suddenly realized I couldn't see Thomas. Where was he? About halfway up a tree! Why? He was a three-toed sloth hanging upside down in a tree. Oh, of course! This all stems from the Eric Carle book, Slowly, Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth.

Then all four kids climbed in the tree. It was quite the sturdy tree, thankfully.

The kids also went "camping." They built a fire (quite impressive, isn't it?), made sleeping bags out of camellia blossoms, and enjoyed the great outdoors.

Never fear, there was a truck at the campsite, too. Just so they would have a toy to play with while they camped out.
