Paola and I took a photography class recently, and we made the intimidating commitment to only shoot in manual. It is hard not to turn the dial to the pretty green camera so the camera can decide what is best for the picture I'm taking. But, it is well worth it when you get exactly the picture you want. I took almost 300 pictures this day....here are some of my favorites....
We took the kids to the state park to let them play while we practiced with our cameras. It was amazing! We got to the beach at 4 pm, headed straight to the water. The boys built an amazing sand castle/fort complete with a trap door and secret tunnels. They played on the lifeguard chairs once the lifeguards left for the day. We left the beach at 7:45, went to Market Common for P.F. Changs for dinner, then rewarded the kids with some much deserved candy! They ate dinner at 9 pm, and we didn't hear one complaint the entire time. For those of you who know our kids, you know what a feat this was since our girls don't always do well together. ;)
Lily took it upon herself to be the water girl for the boys. She would fill her green bucket with water, carry it to the boys larger bucket, then repeat the process again and again.

Lily discovered her shadow, so she tried tons of different dances and poses to see what they looked like. It was precious!

While the other kids were jumping from the lifeguard chair, she made sand angels all by herself.
"Will you please take our picture in front of the horse?"
They loved picking candy from all the different bins.
I love that my friends' kids are my kids' friends!! It is so much fun to go through this season together!
